Gang-du adalah seorang lelaki berotak redup yang bekerja di bar makanan kecil milik ayahnya di dekat Sungai Han. Setelah pembuangan galon limbah beracun di sungai, seekor cumi-cumi bermutasi muncul dan mulai menyerang penduduk. Putri Gang-du, Hyun-seo direnggut oleh makhluk itu dan ia dan keluarganya ditahan oleh militer, yang takut virus menyebar oleh makhluk itu. In detention, Gang-du receives a phone call from Hyun-seo, who is not dead, merely trapped in a sewer. With his family to assist him, he sets off to find Hyun-seo.
